BRADFORD UNIVERSITY - SATURDAY, 29th OCTOBER
Click here to see the provisional programme with details of the keynote speakers
We warmly invite you to attend the 2011 Peace Fellows Seminar, "Peace in Action" on the 29th of October 2011. This year promises to be a particularly exciting event, with an excellent line up of speakers and special guests. The day will include keynote addresses by Mark Segal (UK Department for International Development) and Chris Cushing (Research Fellow in the Department of Peace Studies, with experience in military, humanitarian relief and crisis states), as well as the Class IX Peace Fellows who will give presentations based on their international experiences. You will also have the opportunity to meet the new Class X fellows in Bradford, and we will provide updates on some of the Rotary Peace Fellow alumni that you may remember from recent years.
Schedule
Registration and coffee will be from 8.30 am, with the Programme beginning at 9.15 am. Lunch will be between 12.15 pm and 1.30 pm, and the Conference will close at 4.15 pm when tea will be available, with an opportunity to have individual discussions with the Fellows.
Location
Based on last year’s success, the 2011 Seminar will again be held in the University of Bradford’s Great Hall. Registration and tea/coffee breaks will be in the Atrium, and a hot lunch will be served in the dining area on the mezzanine floor, close to the lecture theatre. Lunch will be in a single sitting and service will be divided between the refectory and the Small Hall, both of which are very close to the Great Hall.
Accommodation & “Meet the Fellows” Dinner, October 28th, 2011
We have changed the Conference Hotel. The increasing popularity of the pre-Seminar, 'Meet The Fellows' Dinner means that we have outgrown the previous accommodation. We will be holding this year’s dinner at the Midland Hotel, which will also be offering accommodation at a discounted rate. Speakers at the Dinner will include Cathy Bollaert who was a member of Class VI (2007-09) Bradford Peace Fellows.
Dinner will be a three course meal with menu options which must be booked in advance. There are two options of starter and three options for main course and dessert; please indicate your choices on the booking form, and we will show them on your place-card. Please be aware that bookings which do not specify menu choices will be assumed to be for the first choice shown for each course. Bookings for the dinner MUST be received by 15th October, please - the date on which we have promised to give numbers to the hotel.
We will again prepare a seating plan and we ask that you specify whether you are willing for us to decide where you sit, or whether you would prefer to sit with others from your club or district, or to specify an individual with whom you would like to sit. We cannot promise to satisfy everyone, but we will try.
The The Midland is this year's Conference Hotel. The address is Forster Square, BD1 4HU, Tel: 01274 735 735, Fax: 01274 720 003.There is a special rate for Seminar attendees of £65 Bed and Breakfast for a double room and £55 Bed and Breakfast for a single (less than last year). An added benefit is that breakfast is served from 7.30 am at weekends! The Midland will accept room bookings, now. Remember to ask for the specially negotiated room rate, quoting ROT28101.
For details of the hotel go to http://www.peelhotels.co.uk/hotels/midland-hotel-bradford-yorkshire-england/

Parking is available at the hotel and on the University Campus for the Seminar itself. We will try to ensure that maps are available, to help you find your way round the ever-changing centre of Bradford from the hotel to the university.
