Areas of interest : The role of microfinance and investment in peace keeping and development. Developing entrepreneurs in conflict and post-conflict countries with the aim of developing a stable economy and infrastructure.
Background : Lisa has worked in development projects in Honduras, Costa Rica, and Uruguay. As a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar in 2005, Lisa worked with Rotary on educational projects for Uruguayan youth. She has been a volunteer, in-country supervisor and member of the board of directors for Amigos de las Americas, a program helping young people get involved in sustainable community development throughout Latin America. Lisa has also been involved with Rotary projects in her district including:
- Speaking engagements for clubs, PETS, district conferences, and promotion of the Rotary Foundation
- Ambassadorial Scholar selection committee
- Computers for the World district project
- Food bank drives
- Miracle league baseball volunteer
- Dancing (tango primarily, but also lindy hop (swing) and salsa)
- Art (acrylic and oil painting)
- Rock climbing
- Hiking/cycling/kayaking, etc
What do you plan to do with your RWPF:
- Pursue a career in microfinance or entrepreneurship-assistance programs.
- Build great relationships and partnerships with those in my program and beyond.
