Background

Yvette Selim is from Sydney, Australia and is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Caringbah. Yvette is currently studying a Master of Conflict Resolution at the University of Bradford, England. She has completed a Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Medical Science (UNSW) and a Master of Bioethics (Monash).

It was while on international exchange at the University of California, Berkeley that Yvette met Ian Wadley, a member of the first class of Rotary World Peace Fellows and a fellow member of the International House Council (the peak representative body for the six hundred International students and scholars).

As a solicitor at an international law firm, Yvette was seconded to work in Bangkok. More recently she was a volunteer in Sri Lanka as part of the International Development Law Organisations' Post-Tsunami project and she has interned at the United Nations' headquarters in the Office of Legal Affairs and Department of Disarmament Affairs.

"I am overwhelmed and humbled to be a recipient of the Rotary World Peace Fellowship. To have the support of Rotary, an organisation committed to community service, global peace and goodwill is invaluable. As I take this next step in my career all I can say to Rotary is 'Thank You'." Yvette said.
